Once again it has come to my attention to add Discord and or Team Speak to our role as a VA. My stance, and that of all Admin's. is that YES, accounts are allowed as long as not personally hosted by myself or my moderators. As my system cannot run 24/7 I can't even run my own server and that sucks! I thank Devon from my heart for maintaining the server we do have! We all owe him! Many times I have been ask about Team Speak and Discord. At this time, I am open to all idea's - The key is WHO will maintain it? What's it cost the VA? WILL MEMBER's USE IT? Simple questions that never get answered! Team Speak has been tried and did not do well. But I will allow DEDICATED if any members are willing. This forum board is open to public for all input and ideas. Regards, FRG001-Angie B. Froggie

As head of security and internet protocol for Froggie Systems et al. I have serious questions and concerns. Before my vote to approve I will need to check some things before the "Froggie" name is involved. I also remember at least 3-4 times we have authorized Team Speak account's that died unused! If it's not going to be used by the majority of membership, I'm afraid that I may vote it down. A user poll maybe Angie?
#1- What is wrong with the current server as long as Devon generously provides? (THANK YOU DEVON)! We can set up other server's but not 24/7. #2- Who manages it and moderates? It must be consecutive! #3- It must be managed, moderated, and most of all secure! #4- Must be open to ALL member's. Can ALL join even if not a Froggie pilot? Most of our current member's stumbled on us by Word-of-mouth! #5- Is it secure and accessible by moderator's 24/7? There are many other item's to consider, like voice/text capability and user operating systems. Keep in mind that Froggie Air / Froggie's Pond were started because we believe that every member should have access to the same abilities, programs, as moderen VA's but without the hassle of ACCARS, VatSim, and other systems! We never track data unless security issue.
(Note that VatSim programs will require Win10 and above effective after January 2020) (See VatSim.com notifications for detail's)). Froggie Air et al... was founded by the less fortunate than other's for that same group and I will stand by my promise to protect that and keep FS98 thru FSXse alive. I welcome any and all comments! Just PM me! Always open to new idea's but let's be careful! Try un-named and test before I vote yes. We shall see.

Discord was down since today around 17;30 GMT but now is back. This happens to all site's but is also one of my concern's as security! A lot of thought and research needed before approval. PM or Email any info that you can and I promise to check into it! We want to grow and have new member's!

I fly and I file. I use the server that Devon supplies, (Thank you my pal ) I fly offline and crash too often! But I never give up! I crash sometimes. I don't think changing from the server to a text/voice program is worth it unless you want to alienate current and future pilot's. The web site explains that! It's all a simple kiss - "Keep it Simple Stupid" (K.I.S.S.) mho Thank you Devon and all admin's. @ Froggie's

I'm sorry if my post seemed rude. It was not intended. My concern is the security of Angie's sites. As for Discord or TS, that is up to player's / user's. TS has been tried many times and most member's prefer the basic fsHost server. If you want Discord by all means give it a try! Just post the info here for other's and we see how it goes. We are always open to new ideas and will try. Just keep in mind that many member's have older systems and flight sims. It is NOT my intention to discourage advancement! Please give it a try but let Angie know the details.

If members want Discord or whatever it is called then I will not object. Inform on this thread any contact / login information others my require! Set it up if you wish but I would like access. As for Team Speak, as Steve noted, it has been tried and failed many times!

I have a little advice on this topic if ya'll don't mind. Over the past few months, I have been flying out in the wilderness type community that most would typically refer to as "FSX: Steam Edition." I don't always host a session, but when I do, mass crowds get drawn in because I advertise "No ATC, no BS sign-ups, no rules. Just free flying."
I attempted to run a Linux based TeamSpeak server for people to use since the in game voice communication quality in FSX is terrible...but I was informed that it is that way for every Steam game. I quickly came to realize the high number of troublemakers out there who already cause problems in my hosted sessions would would cause further problems if they had my IP address.
It later came to my attention that ANYBODY can run a Discord server. I decided to go that route, but then gave up. I noticed that I had more people connecting to my Discord server than to my hosted FSX Steam session. I had troublemakers causing problems already. Fortunately, I created other rooms and set permission levels in a way that newcomers would be confined to one single voice channel without the ability to type any kind of text, and the "good guys" I would manually grant them permissions to use other channels...but my only problem was: the "good guys" were not connecting to it.
I do not post this in a way to deter ya'll from this idea. Since I know there have been troublemakers on your servers already, I am just stressing that you should use the heck out of the security permissions so that the bad guys can't annoy the good guys. And maybe grant a few trustees some type of "moderator" level permissions if the server owner is not around very often.

Allen and I (FRG's 005 & 008) agree with Blackboeing.
We trust fsHost but not things we never heard of~ Never-the-less, we do not have a mic to talk with and we don't want one. That's all I'll say.

Maybe I read wrong...What exactly will this do if the server is down and I'm in the middle of a Hop List flight? Not complaining but FS9 O/l has text capacity so what would be the use???

it doesnt host a flightsim server...just a place to talk while you are flying Then what is the use if the server is on? I rather run limited programs while flying. The only reason I use server is the hop list and i'll have that done soon.

The purpose would be optional voice communication during a multiplayer session. The only way Discord becomes resource hungry is if you are connected to a server where the admins went overboard with decorations such as animated pictures or excessive photos. I have seen a couple that have gone so far as to make theirs look more like facebook than voice comm software. If you were to find one of those types of servers, then Discord would start to bog down your computer. discord.gg/4x2fmMx - I've kept mine looking more like voice comms than social media. After my experience of having so many people connect to it that were not connected to my FSX Steam multiplayer sessions, and to keep my server clean, I created this invite link that does not save in someone's server list unless myself or one of my moderators assigns them to a member group. In short: you follow the link to connect, and you are connected until you log off of Discord. To reconnect, you have to click this link again. And I am not here trying to advertise my Discord server to get people to join. I am just using it as my example here. Ya'll could use it if you want...or not. I don't care. I'm not trying to acquire fame with it.

I see no use! Why not just use regular server when it is up? Am I missing something? The more programs running the less stability for FS to work! Am I wrong?
