I have been flying some version of Microsoft Flight Simulator since the 80’s. I have FSX but have stayed with FS9 at least for a while. For several years, since I am retired and have the time, I have wanted to build a “home cockpit” like the videos I have seen on You Tube. Well, mine is not quite as elaborate as most of them because I had limitations they did not have. Cost for one thing. I could not afford most of the things they have done. Space was another problem for me. I have been given (sort of) a corner of the guest room provided the whole thing can be dismantled should the guest room be needed. With that in mind, mine had to be a little less spectacular than those on You Tube. However, simming is much more fun and enjoyable than it used to be with just the one monitor, no matter how big it was. Basically, it is nothing more than a plywood box/frame to hold the three 27 in monitors I used for the windscreen, the two 20 in monitors used for the instrument panels and the Yoke and programmable keypad. The separate monitors for the windscreen allows me to build really nice panels because I can use the entire screen. I found that even that was not enough and had to add a second. The keypad is something I have had for some time and is so much better than having to remember the keystrokes for everything.
