IFR / VFR depends on the aircraft, length of flight and other factors. VFR is more realistic IMHO.

I like to do commercial flights, and every commercial flight is IFR, unless it is a 727 or older. Now, when I take off at night, regardless, I do IFR. Daytime props, VFR. Long flights - IFR. IFR also is easier because ATC guides you directly to the runway

Good poll question DMS! As most of us learn FS doing VFR it took me many hours to learn (still learning) IFR and at times the GPS confuses me. I ask a lot of questions from people like Steve and others who have many years flying MSFS. To me it depends on the type of flight and the aircraft. IFR can get tricky when first learning but it is all worth the experience. The aircraft, the dist. and the weather (I always use real weather), play a Major role. Also, what you did not include in the poll is flying IMC and I think that is very important for many to understand. IMC or Instrument Meteorologic Conditions are a required subject under FAA rules as VFR can change in an instant and is subject for another topic. My vote is for VFR. Reason being solely personal. Thank for the poll Devon.

I agree with Allen, not because he's my husband but I prefer low and slow flight's that make you feel there.

As most all my aircraft are elderly by todays standards, I like low and slow. So VFR. On the rare occasion I use a "modern" i.e. turbine powered, I will usually fly high and fast. Even then about 50% of my flights are still VFR. If I am flying into an unknown area, and the weather may become a factor, I will have a flight plan and IFR information ready just in case I have to hastily switch. I keep a old surveyors field data book beside the computer for potential IFR use (VOR's NDB's And airport information.
