Thanks Steve. I have one tutorial but it is vague at best. I spent hours on the Posky CR2. It looked to blurry in the sim but in PSP it looks clear. What am I doing wrong?

Tammy. BEFORE DOING ANYTHING - MAKE BACK-UP'S! Instuction on using PSP and DXTbmp is not given here as you should be familer if you made it this far.
Download and extract the tutirials.zipThen get and place in a temp directory for reference the extracted FSXpaintTUT.ZIP This will give you thee best tutorial on the web! It may say FSX but it is valid for any painting! Follow this Tut and contact me with problems. (Delete as needed) As for Blurry finish: I had this same conversation with Troy just day's ago so I post here public. When you are testing and working on your paint kit. Make a copy just in case. (If your paint kit does not open in PSP or you get error, send to me and I will convert the file(s)! Please specify what paint editor you are using (PSPv7,PSPv8 or PhotoShop))When ready to place texture file into the sim, Highlight all and copy over the original. (SAVE ORIGINAL) When you copy, select COPY MERGED (Be sure you copy only the layers that you want seen)Select your base or desired texture file and select entire image and "Paste Into Selection). Verify all is lined up. Be sure to paste from the .TGA file and not from the .JPG Very Important for crisp clear textures:When you go to save the final version, save as TrueVision Targa (.TGA) NOT .JPG .JPG uses compression that distorts your image!
Once saved, open DXTbmp and save the desired texture. Copy / paste from the .TGA file and save as desired format. Most for fs2004/FSX are "Extended Bitmap" DXT1 or DXT3, in some cases 888.8 may be used but uses more frame rate when in the sim. Try the original format first and experiment until you are satisfied. (DXT3 offers more flexibility/clarity). Copy/Paste from a .TGA is much clearer than from a .JPG! Always remember that every-time an image is saved it loses visible compression. Experiment with DXT1 and DXT3 and save as the best quality. I hope this help's all potential painters. I learned from Mike Stone, Milton Stube, Rory Thomson and many other's (some no longer with us), with the fee of Pass It On. If you learn from our tutorial's and advice - Please freely pass it on and give proper credit when due!
