I am all for expanded technology but we as human's are NOT ready to implement autonomic controls into land or air vehicles! It is absurd to think that we can at this stage! We are not the Jettson's! As a recent and on-going story of the Boeing 737 MAX series Proves that we are not ready for that! They (Boeing Bean Counter's), paid more attention to profit rather than safety! Their own test pilot's have testified that the system is full of error. The main and most deadly error is what test pilot's WARNED about before production! Once the MCAS receives a false stall warning, it automatically TAKES CONTROL AWAY FROM THE PILOT! By the time the pilot recognizes the error - there is little to no time to recover! We are lucky as pilots (sim and real) that the FAA and EAA, stepped in to get the truth! Good luck to Boeing survives this travesty! One more year of testing and follow test pilot recommendations could have and will have SAVED LIVE'S!
The MCAS systems of the MAX series was doomed to fail before the first was ever delivered! Why? The bean counter's saw a profit! Plain and simple! Now, at the cost of almost 800 lives in just two "accidents" They will regret their profit thinking when the lawsuit's pile up! Watch how the Paris Airshow will give Airbus a hugh upset over Boeing! Sad but true fact's!

Thanks for your feedback about the automated flight, Kelly . I agree about the necessity of a pilot presence onboard the aircraft on the contrary of a google car or automated subway. Only human being can cope with unpredictable events. About Ampere, I am interested on the possibilities to change the source of energy from fossile gas to electricity. Distributed propulsion seems also a nice project. but, as they states themselve, all that are very far from use in commercial flight and not even working on small airplane.

The Bourget airshow ended few days ago. I found it little disappointing: poor innovations except the eVTOL. eVTOL Supporting airlift technologies seem promising but most want to get rid of human in control loop, little concerning to set human under full control of machines...

I would not even think of flying on a plane without humans in control.

I love flying so i am not happy with those unmanned plane but, of course there are good reasons for doing so. But the machine pilot could look like this :
