I know I am not the only one with this problem. It don't happen every flight but on many, regardless of aircraft, all of my avionics go out! It usually happens during or soon after take off but sometimes at cruise also. I immediately hit Shift + M to get them back but on long hauls, I can't just sit by the PC! Any idea's? (my malfunction settings are set to none / off) Please help as I'm tired of walking in to find my plane has crashed!

It don't happen every flight but on many, regardless of aircraft, all of my avionics go out! It usually happens during or soon after take off but sometimes at cruise also. For many years I have heard of and experienced myself and I have yet to find the cause. The #1 suspect is the FSUIPC - FSNav connection even if A/P is off. This has not been proven. For most, it occurs at or soon after take off. I would suggest to leave A/P off until at CRS Level. and most important for long hauls, is to D/L Auto Save from our Download page or this Direct Link. AutoSave will save your flight every ten minutes. No more starting over!

Have you checked your generators are on? If they are off, the battery will get drained and everything relying on electricity switches off. If you are using a freeware panel, make sure it has generator switches or else assign a key command. You can also try to extend the battery life to indefinitely in (registered) FSUIPC (setting '0'). What panel/aircraft do you refer to?

I got that issue too but didnt know the shift+M troubleshouting... So i just cancelled the flight or crashed as lobofrg029 states, it is not a malfunction. when aircraft it turned on, there is an action to connect generators to electrical network, maybe sim init is missing this action.

As an idea, try using CNTL E to start your engines. Then shut down as you normally would. Now save. If your plane does not have a generator on/off switch, this should auto turn-on your generator/s. When you shut down as you normally would, this "hidden" switch should STILL be on. Saving it now locks it in the "on" position. So now when you load your flight, and start your aircraft, your generator/s will already be on, so all SHOULD be well. This is an unproven theory with generators. It does work for me with an aircraft with a beacon, but no switch to turn it on. I pressed "L" to turn all lights on, turned off all that I had switches for (landing, nav, panel), and saved. Now when I turn on the battery, the beacon turns on automatically.
