With the website being down, how do we go about submitting pireps? Or is there another link that I have managed to overlook?
Devon: I am all for either updating, upgrading or replacing the website all together if the current one cannot be coerced into functioning with some semblance of reliability and/or ease of maintenance.
Jen: I don't believe the site is under a hostile takeover. If the website doesn't work, who is going to want to come here just to chat? If it takes a revamp to get us current, then that is what we should do to stay alive, and continue moving forward. If we remain stagnant, then we will die. It's really as simple as that. If you look at other va's that failed, most of them died when their owners no longer had either the interest, ability or time (or all three!) to continue running them. They also didn't transfer power to anyone who might be willing or able to keep the va going. The ones that have all survived have multiple persons that are equally capable of making changes that might be necessary to keep the airline going in the event of a loss of a key individual.
I believe that is what Devon is trying to do. And I also believe that there no reason to keep a website that is not working. I regret the loss of all the hours put into the site to make it "ours," but if it's not working, is there any point in keeping it, just in case...?
We can rebuild the site with newer tech, and easier coding (or whatever they use nowadays). I've seen some of what's out there. We should enjoy some of that. And when/if Angie comes back, she can be handed a smoothly running Camaro/Mustang, versus the Chevette/Pinto (bad analogy, I know..) we are currently driving.
Just my humble two cents worth.
