Hi everyone !
I am a flightsim enthusiast since 1988 and have been flying in a military virtual flight squadron and on Vatsim since 2002, as a member of Scandinavian Virtual Airline. However, I quitt online flying for a number of reasons almost 10years ago and went into offline flying and retro-computing. I am back into civil flightsimming since 6 month, flying FS98 on a Pentium III with Win98, so my questions are:
- is it allowed to fly FS98 within your VA? - is it mandatory to fly online? - how is faking pireps prevented? - what do I need to fly online?
I wish everyone happy flying and clear skies!

Hi everyone ! - is it allowed to fly FS98 within your VA? - is it mandatory to fly online? - how is faking pireps prevented? - what do I need to fly online? Lobo Fly any sim that you want. fs98 will not be capable of online but that is not required. If someone feels the need to fake a PIREP, they only cheat themselves. We don't verify PIREP's because we trust our members to be honest! Most here use FS2004 or FSX. If you would like a free copy PM me and I may arrange it.

Just to specify: I flew military NOT in Scandinavian VA of course, I flew military within CAG50 and VMFA232/vcvw-11, in SVA I was SAS857. Perhaps my choice of words was not correct as I am no native english speaking Person. Sorry for that! Thanks for all your replies! My opinion on the fake-thing is the same as posted here, you basically lie to yourself. I just asked, because in SVA, we had a tool provided by a member to file pireps and it used a .DLL within FS, so you couldn't fake anything. I was just curious if your VA is using some kind of a tool or something. Although I use Win98 for flying, I do have a Tablet PC with Win10, wich I could use for communication. I use it also as an electronic flight bag, to pull up charts and flight plans and it eliminates also all the paper stuff. After all, I definitely would want to join, but I didn't expect to be suspected as a fraud regarding my online memberships in the past, that one really puzzles me! So I'm not sure wether it still makes sense to apply Regarding FS2004, I have a decent installation on a single core with winxp, but framerates are below enjoyable... Best Greetings, Lobo (real name: Hakan)

My apology Lobo. You are free to join with any sim and I hope that you do! I feel bad and Ashley gave me a lecture! Please feel free to join. We have very few rules. The main is at least one PIREP per month.ANY sim may be used.If you need any help at all just ask. All flight sims and system's are allowed PIREP's must follow the website protocol. So easy I wont explain! All member's are required to submit PIREP at least once a month.Email address must be real and valid at all times.VA members are required to join our forums as a way to pass NOTAM's (This is verified thru application process) See our main site for more info HERERule #1 is to Have Fun!I hope you join and if you need anything please ask. Please join and hope to see you on server's FRG002-Steve K. A hint on frame rate: Limit the FPS in settings to 25 or 30 and that will help. You must set this limit in settings. Please message me if needed.

Thank you Steve and Ashley! The misunderstanding was probably due to my rusty english, I understand you need the site free of malicious people, so no need to feel bad about it! I will try to get my FS2004 system up and running and see what I can do about the framerates, but that will take a few days and I definitely will need some help to get online (it's been a while.. ). Thank you both for your kind words, I will send you my application asap, Lobo

Finally got the confirmation Email a few hours ago, replied immediately thereafter, hope you did receive it. (If not please let me know!).
In the meantime, I have registered with the forum, so I can receive pm's. If that email problem persists, I'm gonna ask my Provider what the problem is. So far, I have received just that one confirmation Email from you, if you sent it 3 times, I still miss the other two... strange, but I only received only one Email yet. Gonna have a look on this problem tomorrow more closer.
Regards, Lobo
P.S. Have you tried all lower case?

yeah I'll add to what darren said
He pretty much explained everything, but since I run the server, I'll just add a couple more
My server runs 24/7 as I leave my PC running 24/7, and it only turns off for updates which I rarely install. I definitely can't promise I'll be there when you are, as I rarely check it anymore with all of the online schoolwork I have to do now that school is closed from the pandemic.
I also don't give one crap what planes people fly and whether they are carrying people, cargo, drugs, whatever you want to carry on the plane is fine with me.
You can also use whatever name you want on the server, as long as it is appropriate. Adding to that, I only have 1 rule for my server and that one rule is to just be a decent person. Hope you have fun!

Thank you for the reply to this thread. While no reply yet to froggiespond.boards.net/thread/1092/question-on-time-compression from my peers, I think the answer is yes allowed. With a catch to that: As long as you report the simulated time. Ex: simulated time was 4 hours but in real time it only 2 hours, so when you report - you are to report 4 hours.
